Day 4: Elizondo to Barranco Odia

About 26km today, and about 1400m elevation gain. Got off to an early start, around 545am, and then tried to make the most of the cooler morning to get up the big steep rise that started this leg of the journey. I made decent time, and because this leg of the GR11 doesn’t end at a reasonable spot to camp, without water, and no accommodation, most people either hitch a lift from the road, camp earlier, or push on to Albergue Sorogain, a dormitory style guesthouse 2 hours into the next day. I hoped to camp, and found a really nice spot by a river (!!! Maybe the first enthusiastically-flowing water source in this parched heatwave-ravaged landscape). Despite the occasional wake up calls of cow-bells drifting too close to my tent, I slept pretty well and got up early at 6am to start the next leg. No reception so I am posting this a day late.
