Day 11: Candanchú to Sallent de Gállego
23km, 900m elevation gain.
On paper it is shorter than most of the days I’ve been doing but for whatever reason I found the ascent up the valley today quite tough. I think I was trying to keep a faster pace maybe. Sallent is a cute little mountain town perched on a lake, and I am writing this at 5pm, at a local pub having some croquetas - dinner will be 8pm at the earliest. The high point today was a small plateau just below the twin peaks of Anayet. The spot was busy, with at least 40 other day trippers at the top enjoying the small tarns and the view. Tomorrow is a rest day - I’ve booked a spot here in Sallent for 2 nights which will give me a chance to rest and also confirm plans for the next few stages.
