Day 1: Cape Higuer Lighthouse to Ippara Txiki Berri

So the day started off well, after limited sleep as the hotel air conditioner was broken, and I managed to collect my old (now useless) passport, credit card, and (useful still) debit card and driver's license from the police station. After checking the debit card was working and withdrawing some cash, I caught a 2 hour bus up the coast through San Sebastian to Irun.

Once I arrived in Irun I checked in to my guesthouse and headed out to the lighthouse that denotes the beginning of the GR11 on the coast of the Atlantic. It has been a scorching day and I am a little worried about the heatwave through Europe at the moment and what effect it may have on the water sources and how much water I'll go through. I certainly felt very dry after the 15km I did today. I think I'll aim to commence my days generally as early as I can to walk in the cool of the morning.

And there I am dipping my toes in the Atlantic. So all up, today was about 15.6km (but about 7.8km progression on the GR11).
