Day 36: Setcases to Beget
21km, 1100m elevation gain.
After a very subpar breakfast, I happily left Setcases behind and continued up and on to Beget. The day was forecast for rain from 9am however it didn’t really hit until around midday, when I was passing the cute town of Molly. Some kids had set up a table next to the water fountain in town and were selling homemade lemonade for 50 cents. This was a must.
Most of today was fairly easy walking, though the trail didn't always seem to make a lot of sense in the zigzagging approach down the hillsides and up the valleys. I arrived in Beget just before 3pm, and checked into my absolutely fantastic Hostal la Fuen. At two-thirds the price of the last place, but including dinner and breakfast, and infinitely more comfortable, clean and friendly, I am extremely satisfied. I had the menu of the day in the courtyard for a late lunch, which included some house wine, cannelloni and a lamb and mushroom (locally foraged - I keep passing people mushrooming in the forest) stew, as well as cheesecake for dessert. I might have a siesta now for a bit to try to make room for dinner.
The plan is to try to do some long days combining sections tomorrow and the next day if the weather holds, to bring me close to the coast and the completion.
