Day 14: Banos de Panticosa to Camping Valle de Bujaruelo
About 25km and 1km elevation gain.
A really tough day today. Walked for about 10 hours but through the most spectacular scenery. There’s something my brother said once about how cool it is to hike to places that you cannot get to any other way that makes the appreciation for the views and scenery so much more. The mountains and valleys here are so vast that phone photos don’t really do them justice. In a way, though, that’s kind of nice. It prompts me to spend more time taking in the views rather than trying to get shots.
Rain is forecast for the next two days which has been a blessing and a curse. On the one hand, it means that I may miss some of the awesome views due to the inclement weather, but on the other it means that I have managed to secure a spot at Refugio de Goriz tomorrow. I am about to hike through Ordesa canyon and national park which has restricted camping completely and the Refugio was booked out including camping outside it, 6 months ago. It seems the bad weather though has lead to some cancellations which will mean my next two days will be slightly less awkward in length and I will at least be able to sleep under a roof if the rain eventuates and persists.
