Day 15: Camping Valle de Bujaruelo to Refugio de Góriz

20km, about 1200m elevation gain.

This was a great day, walking up through the Ordesa national park and canyon in the early morning and I was really worried about the storms closing in around midday so I covered the kilometres quickly and got to the refugio around 1pm, in time for a burger and to meet some other hikers and settle in for the evening. I was really glad I managed to snag a spot in the refugio - it makes it difficult capping the numbers even to camp in the area because it makes it tricky particularly for the GR11 hikers who miss out on spots because they cannot book 6 months in advance. This leaves you with the only alternative of racing ahead to a steep descent and camping in a pretty rocky valley another 2 hours into the next section.

Ordesa is a beautiful area and you can see why it attracts the tourists, though few of my photos do it justice as it was overcast and I was powering along trying to beat the storm.
