Day 9: Uson to Refugio de Lizara
12km, 1200m elevation gain.
A short day, with a late start after breakfast at the guesthouse. I met a fellow GR11 hiker staying at the same place - an older bloke, Louis from Portugal. We started hiking together but he was much slower up the ascent than I was comfortable going so we met back up at the end of the day at the Refugio. Because it was a short day I arrived in plenty of time to sit outside with a beer and my kindle and admire the spectacular scenery. Here in the High Pyrenees it just gets better and better! Awesome views. Dinner at the refugio was pretty good - turkey meat with roasted capsicum, a garden salad with egg and corn, and a roasted vegetable dish with lots of garlic. Unfortunately an awful sleep overnight - super hot in the cramped dormitory room with only one tiny window. I think I prefer camping in my tent, really!
