Day 27: Areu to Refugi de Baiau

About 14km, 1400m elevation gain.

Today was a shorter day and we made really good time. The grading up the valley was excellent and walking in the shade was a nice change. This climb up to the refugio was really spectacular and we arrived around 1pm just as the storm clouds rolled in. I managed to take a quick swim in the alpine lake before jumping inside the awesome unmanned refugio that looks more like a modernist sculpture. There are 9 small bunks and myself, L and S were the first to arrive, though the others filled up as the afternoon storm wore on. We had a fairly decent sleep (though obviously the small cabin was pretty cramped and crowded) and got going early the next morning.
